Pupil premium funding is additional funding allocated by the Government to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils. At Ss. Peter and Paul's, we aim to provide all our pupils with the tools they need in order to achieve the very best possible outcomes. Catch Up Funding

What catch-up funding is for?

The government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up lost time after school closure. This is especially important for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds.

At Ss. Peter and Paul's Catholic primary school we have designed a catch-up support programme that enables all of our children to receive some level of support. Before putting our support programme in place, we carried out a range of assessments to help identify gaps and ascertain what learning has been remembered/forgotten. Our support programme includes additional lessons which take place before and after school for children in Years 3 to 6. Children are grouped based on our in-school data enabling targeted support to ensure all our children achieve.

Tier 1: 'Universal' support for all children through Quality First Teaching.

Tier 2: 'Group' support for children needing further teaching sessions to support them in developing their confidence in the next step of their education journey.

Tier 3: 'Targeted' support for children identified as needing structured interventions through a carefully designed before and after school catch-up programme.
